Series 1 E-Type Projects – FOR SALE!
Project Overview:
For the past several years, I have been collecting orphaned, wrecked, and incomplete E-Types and E-Type parts. In many cases, customers have called me offering COMPLETE E-Type projects, that they have disassembled and THROWN AWAY the body shell. In other cases, I purchased entire collections of E-Type parts from other shops and enthusiasts that also parted out cars 25 years ago (and also threw out the body shells…), but still have nearly ALL of the components from the cars themselves. In many cases, I also received the data plates and titles for these “incomplete” E-Types.
As a result, Monocoque Metalworks now owns several E-Type project cars that are “complete” – but missing their original body shells and bonnets…
Of course, we do also possess the machinery, skills, and knowledge to build NEW body shells and bonnets for these cars. And now that we are finally getting settled in to the new shop, we are ready to begin the process of building NEW body shells for these cars. The construction of the body shells and bonnets for these cars will begin later this year, and should be completed by the end of 2017.
So, after several years of working on this endeavor, I am finally ready to offer these E-Type projects for sale. The cars listed below are our current collection of E-Type project cars. These cars are being offered for sale as COMPLETE projects, with ALL NEW body shells built by Monocoque Metalworks, making them complete E-Types again. These are all REAL, ORIGINAL Jaguar E-Types – they all have an original E-Type chassis number – plus clear titles and paperwork, and will be supplied with all of the original parts necessary to build a complete, original Jaguar E-Type.
The List:
All of the cars offered below are owned outright by Monocoque Metalworks. Each of the cars listed below is an original Jaguar E-Type, with a legitimate and clear Chassis number. None of the cars being offered are currently listed on www.xkedata.com, or in any other listing – anywhere – except the original factory logs. These E-Types have been “out of circulation” for 30-40 years in most cases, and YOU will be the one to tell their story as you see fit.

What is included?
In each case, the new owner will receive a complete E-Type moncocoque body shell – either new or completely restored – with restored doors and boot lid mounted and fitted. New engine frame rails will also be fitted, as will a restored original bonnet. These bodies with mounted doors, decklids, and bonnets will be delivered in 2 coats of 2-part epoxy primer, ready for final block sanding and paint. Built with pride by Monocoque Metalworks, the accuracy, strength, and attention to detail of these E-Type body shells will be second to none.
The new Monocoque Metalworks body shell and bonnet is the real beauty of these projects! Actually, these cars are an absolute dream come true, really – they are essentially “barn find” E-Types, with FACTORY FRESH body shells and bonnets!
When purchasing one of these projects from Monocoque Metalworks, the new owners will receive:
1) A complete E-Type body with mounted frame rails and bonnet – in a sturdy cart that allows safe and easy transportation from Monocoque Metalworks to the paint and restoration facilities of your choice.
2) A clear title and identity for this E-Type – in most cases including the original data plate and “picture frame” or crossmember. These are REAL, original E-Types!
3) ALL original parts required to make this a “complete” E-Type – all suitable for restoration. All parts are original and the condition of components varies, but all are excellent, restorable original pieces.
4) Monocoque Metalworks Technical support – 24×7 – for life… – which always sounds like no big deal, but trust me, this is worth a GREAT deal! When you are stuck on a Saturday afternoon 3 years from now, just call!
Finally, the projects can also be “tailored” to fit your personal vision! We can supply all “correct” period pieces for that E-Type – OR – we can change components to suit your tastes – later, improved braking systems, synchronized gearboxes, etc…
Timeframe:
We are rapidly moving toward the final completion of our new facility, at which point we will be ready to begin manufacture of the new body shells for these E-Types. We have already purchased ALL of the required machinery to produce the final 20% of the E-Type’s panels that we do not currently offer – the larger panels, a few more complicated panels, and other panels in the upper sections of the shell that do not typically need replacement. We are currently in the process of setting up this new machinery in the new shop, and building the necessary E-Type specific tooling for that remaining 20% – I actually just took delivery of the new firewall tooling a few hours ago… A project of this scale is not something that happens quickly, though, so I expect the body shells for these projects to be ready for delivery in 18-24 months.
In the meantime, you may secure the E-Type project of your choice from the list above with a substantial deposit, at which point full ownership of the car’s identity, as well as full ownership of the collection of original parts (minus the body shell and bonnet) will transfer to you. You may continue to have these items stored at our facility until the body shell is ready for delivery, OR you may collect those components and begin restoration of them while the body shell and bonnet are being built by Monocoque Metalworks.
To Purchase:
If you would like to secure one of these projects, please write back or CALL – which really is best for discussing this. I would be happy to give you more details about the project as a whole, or more specific details on any of the E-Types listed above.
NOTE! – While there are currently 8 different E-Types available – and all of these E-Types will ultimately have new bodies built for them and be offered for sale – I MUST limit this initial offering to ANY two, but ONLY two of the E-Types listed above. I need to do this to ensure that we do not get in over our heads here and end up being unable to fulfill our commitments to this project as well as our other customers. Building a complete shell to the high standard that we demand here is very time consuming… Once the first few complete body shells are built, we should be able to reduce the time required to build each shell.
So, if you are interested in being a part of this project, it would probably be best to call me sooner rather than later. Also, of course the cars above will be sold on a “first come, first serve” basis, and so if a particular car suits you more than the others, that is another reason to call right away…
IMPORTANT! – These projects are ONLY being sold as complete E-Type projects. We are NOT selling individual components, nor are we selling identities or titles under any circumstances. Please do not ask.
Thank You!
I have been preparing for this endeavor for several years – both in sourcing and securing the cars and parts, AND in expanding our machinery and eventually moving the business to a larger facility. This really has been my “pet project” for a long time, and I’m looking forward to working with the new owners to rescue these long forgotten E-Types! – Chuck
