We’re busy as usual, so I am going to have to skip the captions on this blog, but here are some photos of a Series 2 lower valance that we recently restored.
This is part of a Series 2 bonnet that we are building for a customer from original parts on our shelves. This particular piece came in as part of an “extra” bonnet that was brought in with another bonnet that was restored a few years ago. I had considered it to be a rough piece, but upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a good restoration candidate.
We stripped heavy paint and undercoating from the piece, removed the original support panel, and sandblasted the skin. Next, we cut out and replaced a particularly bad section, and then installed one of our new lower valance support members.
The finished piece turned out GREAT, and fits MUCH better than the poorly shaped reproductions currently available.
Take a look!
