Here is an E-Type project car that we recently acquired – but I’m sorry to say it is no longer available – she has already found a new home! If you are looking for an E-Type project, let us know, because unless you show interest in one BEFORE we get it, you’re probably already too late!
This car was on “Bring a Trailer” about a year ago, and it is actually the second bringatrailer E-Type I have been involved in (the first was a rolled 3.8 coupe that we provided a new roof for.)
When REALLY bad E-Types hit bringatrailer.com, people are always quick to fill up the blogs with how bad or worthless or unfixable they are, but I am always thinking, “Hey – I’ll take it!” And other people must think that as well, because they always go fast!
The story on this car was that it was owned by one guy since the mid-70’s. At some point, it was stolen, but was recovered a couple years later – completely intact and OK, but with bullet holes in the windshield and rear glass, and one rear 1/4-window smashed out. The rightful owner took the car back, and stored it indoors at a friend’s place…
Some friend – eventually, the car was pushed outside, and the rest is history – LOTS of rust… But, she is all there, all virgin, and a great restoration candidate for someone who has extensive metalworking experience – which is exactly where she is going.
So enjoy these photos of the latest project car we had – for a VERY short time. No captions on this one – you get the idea – what it lacks in condition, it makes up for in completeness – every little screw is there as it should be and much of the interior components, etc. are in great shape. Based on the car’s history, I would imagine it would probably run – well – with a weekend of fiddling. You can see the missing 1/4-window, and how the weather destroyed the passenger seat, while leaving the driver’s seat virtually untouched…
Looking for your own E-Type project? – contact us and get on the “short list” of people we call when they come in – I’m headed out to pick up another one in about 48 hours!
