Here are a couple photos of a project car belonging to a gentleman who stopped by the shop a couple weeks ago. He mentioned that he had purchased a car and was picking it up, and would like to stop by on the way home and see the shop- plus pick up some larger panels to save on shipping.
We knew he would be coming around 1:00, and eventually, Brent said, “Hey – I think your guy is here.” I looked up, and saw the mess below, and just kind of instinctively blurted out, “Oh YEAH!!!” Then quickly wandered over to meet him, extending my hand and at the same time saying, “This is my kind of junk!!!”
This is a 1964 E-Type Fixed-Head Coupe that has certainly seen better days… BUT – it is numbers matching and complete. And like me, he realizes that everything is restorable if you have the time and patience! So for those of you out there who see the photos of the pristine metalwork being turned out here, and wish your car was that nice (and I’m one of those – my ’63 has some “interesting” repairs on it from my youth…) – take a look at this to make yourself feel better!
- It looks like she has been outside for quite some time, and her “back is broken”… But she’s still beautiful to me – I’m telling you, the sight of this gets my blood pumping alot more than the most perfect show car!
- The story on this one is a familiar tale – taken to a restoration shop, taken apart by them, and then subsequently abandoned by them when they went under or something, then simply pushed outside… This is restorable – it’s just time and money (and ALOT of our panels!)
- The interior needs a little work… And even though the restoration shop threw in the towel, if that patch up there is any indaction of what they were about to do to this shell, it is probably a GOOD thing!
