Check out these photos I just received from the owner of “the lead sled”! It’s great to see our shells painted up and being finished – and this one is definitely headed down the right track!
- Here she was when she arived at the shop – a little worse for the wear!
- Summer of 2011 – we had to go in DEEP on this one – the LH rear wing was a total disaster and had to come off (see the earlier posts in this category…)
- Here’s a shot from later that Summer after the door was restored and the new rear wing was fitted. I REALLY miss the blue ’61 roadster – she was mine to play with that whole Summer while we offered her for sale. That deal was finally closed out, and as we speak, she is on a ship to Abu Dhabi and her new home at the YAZ Marina Formula One track.
- The Lead Sled is RED!!!
- Here she is at a restoration shop in Ohio – going back together, and from the looks of it, with no expense spared!
- That is the original boot floor, but the rear lower valances and the filler panels were all replaced.
- The IRS looks well detailed! This is going to be a driver, so details like the proper colors on the shocks and differential are not a concern here.
- We put those floors in, and there is a hidden subframe in there too! But when I look at this photo, I just see $$$ – stainless exhaust, 5-speed upgrade – this car is going to be lots of fun!
- All new harnesses as well. That red paint really makes the metalwork look good, huh!?!
- As I said, no expense spared – aluminum radiator, all new plastic bottles, new porcelain manifolds – and everything properly assembled and beautifully detailed! It’s really nice to see an E-Type whose shell we rebuilt going back together with this level of detail and pride!
- I can’t wait to see the next batch of photos!
