Well, believe it or not, we got a WHITE CHRISTMAS here! We do get snow here in northern Maryland – some years more than others, but it is pretty rare to get a white Christmas, so it’s a special year! Hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas, Joyous Holiday Season, and a Happy New Year! – Chuck
- White Christmas Eve!!! This Series 2 coupe is the only E-Type suffering outdoor storage at the moment, but it’s actually been a pretty dry Winter so far… This red E-type parked under fluffy green pine trees in the snow was about as Christmas-ey as it gets! You can’t see the pine trees in these shots, but there is a “Christmas pine cone” on the cowl!
- This reminds me of the one and only time that I drove my own E-Type in the snow – it was at night too, right around Christmas, 1988. It was snowing pretty hard out, but I was hell-bent to go over to my girlfriend’s house. There was about 3-4 inches of snow on the roads, and I could feel the higher lumps dragging along the floors as I went. It turns out that E-Types actually handle surprisingly well in the snow, although on a Series 1, you have to pull over and wipe off the headlights about every 300 yards!!! That’s pretty much how things went back then – my E-Type was my car, so wherever I went, it took me there – rain, shine, sleet, or even snow!
- My car was still red when that happened, so seeing this last night really took me back…
- The real Christmas miracle would be if someone would take this car off our hands and give her a good home! This numbers-matching Series 2 coupe is complete, and runs strong – she needs metalwork and a new paint job, but after that, most components could simply be re-assembled. You know, this old girl was really calling out to me last night – if someone doesn’t adopt her soon, I just might do it myself!
