Soon I’ll be starting in the repair of the Donovan aluminum race bonnets, and so I needed to stock up on aluminum sheet to fabricate the panels that cannot be reshaped.
Unfortunately, my local supplier does not carry the soft aluminum that I need for this work, so I had to head up to the “mother ship” of the Fazio’s Industrial Supply outfit – I usually shop at their Delaware branch. I had never been up to their big store in Glassboro, NJ before…
So my machinist and I made a day trip out of it – we had both been talking about going up there for a while now. We also decided to swing by a used machinery dealer – Cook Machinery – while we were up there.
Now… Sometimes when E-Type owners come by to visit the shop, they get kind of “freaked out”, and it’s hard to carry on a conversation with them. There are about 8-10 shells and/or complete cars here at any given time, and the attic above the new shop is bursting at the seams with E-Type parts, so their brain just kind of “locks up” into what I call “Total Sensory Overload.”
Well, that’s what happened to me yesterday. There was so much cool stuff in these places that I didn’t even now how to absorb it all! I did managed to buy my aluminum sheets, plus a pair of gloves and two spring clips – that was all my brain could handle for one trip! But now that I know what’s up there, I’ll be making sevearl trips ion the future – I can see that already!
This is supposed to be a blog about E-Types, so I’m just going to throw the photos up here without captions for your enjoyment. Happy Holidays! – Chuck
