Summer is a time when alot of shells come and go around here – the weather is good and many customers plan trips to other vacation destinations in the area as part of the journey. Here are some of the cars that were dropped off in the past couple of months that we will be working on later this Winter and next Spring:
- This is the bonnet from a local 1967 roadster. It is what some people have coined a “Series 1 and a quarter” – meaing that EVERYTHING is Series 1 on the car, but it has open headlights. We will be restoring this bonnet and converting it to covered headlights.
- The bonnet is straight and relatively solid – this is the factory paint.
- Once this bonnet is completed, we will be bringing in the shell for a full refresh as well.
- This shell belongs to our customer from Louisiana whose 1966 FHC bonnet we restored this Spring. When they came to pick up the bonnet, they brought in this 1961 OTS shell.
- This E-Type was wrecked in 1969. At that time, an identical 1961 OTS – also redd, was purchased, and all of the components were swapped out.
- This shell is almost rust free, but this carnage will present PLENTY of challenges!
- Check out that stand! This was a real engineering marvel – it fit into the truck PERFECTLY! The ride up was still dicey, though, and as you can see, we celebrated their arrival from Louisiana by cracking open a few beers upon their arrival.
- The entire rear clip is a real mess – both rear wings are wiped out. This car is WAY down the line, so it will be over a year before we get to this shell, but we both did not want to miss the opportunity to get the shell up here as part of the bonnet pick up.
- This is a 1970 FHC from New Brunswick, Canada. This car is down for a complete shell and bonnet restoration – with conversion to Series 1 specs front and rear.
- This couple was in the middle of a LONG journey – moving from New Brunswick to Alberta! Our shop is not exactly “on the way”, but it was a good chance to drop the car off.
- The best part about dropping the car off, was that they were able to get rid of the trailer too! Look for this car to change DRASTICALLY when it is stiffened and converted to a Series 1 sometime in 2013!
